Planner of the Month – September 2011

September Planner of the Month tablescape

Amy Maier’s Vintage Tablescape

Amy Maier has always been a “planner”, you know the
type…hyper organized, makes lists for everything, the one volunteering to plan
the birthday parties, bridal and baby showers. It wasn’t until she took a part
time job at a bridal salon to support her designer shoe addiction, that she
realized weddings were her passion.

After managing the bridal salon for 5+ years, Amy obtained
her WPIC certification and started Head Over Heels Wedding & Event
Planning. With a love of fashion, a creative nature, and a professional
background in purchasing and cost control she is a very well rounded wedding
planner.

Her enthusiasm and love for what she does is obvious, she is
a very outgoing with a great sense of humour.
Amy believes the whole wedding planning process should be fun and
exciting, and having laughs along the way is necessary, but it is never lost on
her how important this day is for the couple, their family, and friends.

Amy believes that no matter how large or small the wedding
is, it should be a reflection of each person individually and the two of them
as a couple.

“I do not believe in plopping a couple down in the middle of
a beautiful, perfectly planned wedding if that wedding isn’t a reflection of
their personalities.  It is the little
details that make relationships and couples unique and special, it’s my job to
help bring those little details into the wedding.”

Head Over Heels Wedding & Event Planning offers
consultations, month of coordination and full wedding coordination. Please visit

Wedding Tents: Decorating with Fabric

Having a wedding outdoors? Not sure how to spruce up your Tent Wedding? Using fabric to drape the inside of Wedding Tents is far from a new concept, however commonly overlooked. There are many different methods to choose from, from tent liners, panels, garland and streamers, there are numerous ways to decorate your tent that will take your guests breath away.

The most popular fabric to decorate wedding tents with is tulle. Light and inexpensive this fabric is versatile and works well for panels and streamers. Other cost effective fabrics include cotton, nylon, rayon and polyester while more expensive options include silk, satin, chiffon and taffeta.

Once you have decided on a fabric there are many different methods to decorate your tent. You can cut and hem fabric panels that are spaced evenly across the tent as decoration, use plain fabric draped across tent walls and gathered every few feet into swag shapes that hang to the floor, or you can use fabric to wrap around tent poles or hang as curtains. Alternatively you can rent a fabric tent liner to create a decorative shell inside the protective tent as in the photos below supplied by Special Event Rentals for a gorgeous wedding held at RedTail Landing Golf Club.

Once you have decided how you will decorate your tent be sure to keep safety in mind. Make sure the fabrics are fully secured and that none of the fabric is in a hazardous location. Make sure you place potentially flammable fabrics far away from any open flame or direct heat source.

Outdoor Ceremony

A beautiful afternoon with nothing but sun, blue skies, and lots of love; the perfect setting for Wedding Planner Jenelle Jamani to create a gorgeous Wedding Ceremony.

Using the green hillside as her canvas, Jenelle set the stage with lots of white and soft organic touches. Glass vases filled with water beads and full bloom orchids lined the walkway to a beautiful wooden archway draped in matted silk. Elegant touches of votive candles floating in water only added to the ambiance of soft lighting and warm hues creating a magical romantic setting.

Wedding Decor by Sweet Bliss Wedding Edmonton Wedding Planner

Christina Frizzell's peacock inspired table

To say that Christina Frizzell is obsessed with all things “wedding” would be an understatement. From a young age Christina would take the tablecloth and flowers from her dining room, playing “Bride” all day long, and coming into her teens she would cut out ideas and photos from wedding magazines pasting them into numerous volumes of Wedding Scrapbooks.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alberta and gaining valuable experience from living abroad in London, England, Christina returned to Edmonton to settle down and start her career.  Christina received her certification from the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada and immediately founded Sweet Bliss Weddings, coming back full-circle to her love for weddings.

Since creating Sweet Bliss Weddings, Christina has made a name for herself in the Wedding Planning Industry.  She has been featured in The Edmonton Journal, The Montreal Gazette and The Vancouver Sun, and various online wedding blogs among others. Christina is also the first and only Wedding Planner inAlberta to be certified by The Gay Wedding Institute.

Sweet Bliss Weddings offers consultation services, as well as Partial and Full wedding coordination.  Christina  believes that a wedding should be a reflection of who you are, both as individuals and as a couple,  and will help you incorporate those personal touches that will leave your guests talking about your wedding for years to come.
