5 Reasons to Hire a Planner

Planner and Bride

Michelle Blonjeaux from Event Planning Headquarters, a subdivision of Special Event Rentals, with Bride to be

Are you trying to decide if you should hire a Wedding planner to help you create your wedding? Below are five reasons to hire a wedding planner for your big day.

1. They will make the experience enjoyable

Planning a wedding includes some unforeseen tasks and challenges. Planners will keep you on schedule to complete tasks and will insure that you’ve thought of everything from the venue to the ribbon on your menu. If you have a short window of time to get your ceremony or reception set up, a planner will do the running around to complete the set up while you’re busy enjoying your special day.

2. Connections

Planners have been in the industry for years while it’s likely your first time planning a wedding. They know where to locate those specific hard to get items, where to get the services and products you need, and how to get the best prices.

3. They will free up your time

Since Planners have been in the industry for years, they have inside information. Such as where are the best venues, and who are the best photographers and florists. Having this knowledge allows them to save you time and energy that you might have spent searching for what you were looking for.

4. Keep you on budget

Staying on a budget can be a difficult task, especially while planning your wedding. Planners are able to create your dream wedding while staying within your budget. If you can’t fit a full wedding planner into your budget you can still hire a planner for assistance during the planning or execution process! This will allow you to still get what you need from a planner without the total expense.

5. Stress

When you hire a planner you are ensuring yourself of a stress free day. If a crisis is to arise they can handle the situation flawlessly while you enjoy your special day. If you decide to hire a planner just for the planning process you can also rest easy knowing they have directed you to reliable companies.

Planners have the experience, and a background of achievements, indicative of successful coordinating and executing events that will be sure to be everything as grand as you had imagined when you said “yes”.

O’ Christmas Tree, O’ Christmas Tree…

With only ten days till Christmas, the last minute details on everyone’s holiday decor start to go up. If you are one among the many procrastinators when it comes to holiday decorating and putting up that holiday tree, we have put together some holiday ideas when it comes to simple quick and easy tree decor.

For the Minimalist

Need a quick fix to the absence of a holiday tree? You don’t have to have an abundance of decorations or a $1000 budget to have a great looking tree. Here we’ve taken a simple white Christmas tree and added some white lights. Minimalism at its greatest it still adds that warm festive feel, and goes great with our silver and white holiday table. Not looking for a long tern tree? Why not rent one from us and really cut down on your holiday budget and set up.

For Those Who Like To Keep It Simple and Elegant

If you’re looking for something a little more for your Christmas tree but still want to keep it simple, arranging your tree in two tones of color is a great way to add color and style and under budget. This tree is nothing more than some white lights and two different colors of ornaments, pink and gold.

Many stores offer large packages of monochromatic ornaments for a cheap price; pick two colors for your tree and start decorating. The two colors will keep it simple while the different style of ornaments will give it a unique style.

For The Modern Contemporary

As years go by, we see more and more colored trees in living rooms as opposed to the classic green. Colored trees add a modern contemporary touch to the holidays and give decorating a new dimension. Our “love actually” tree has a black base, and bright red ornaments with silver details to give it that holiday glitz and glamour.

For the Diva

Gold earrings? Leopard pumps? Want your holiday tree to match you in Diva standard but without a Diva budget? This Christmas tree takes a different spin on the holidays by adding a bit of exotic flare. With nothing but a few gold ornaments and some leopard ribbon you’ve created a Louis Vuitton tree with a Walmart price.

For Those Young At Heart

With all those yearly trends out there, there are those of us who like to stick to the classics. This Christmas tree brings nothing but nostalgia to your table with the classic colors of red, blue and green, candy canes, candy ornaments and little toy drums to match. Why not add to the savings by taking some time with the kids and make some ornaments to match?

For Those Who Love Colour

The last in our holiday tree line up is polychromatic at its best. With everything from jewel tones, to diamonds to glitter this table is everything holiday sparkle! There are no rules when it comes to this tree, just lots and lots of color!

And as a little extra help this holiday check out this great Tree Ornament Calculator. Enter in the size of your tree and this calculator will automatically calculate just how many ornaments you need to make it look its best.

DIY: A Holiday Tablescape That Won’t Break The Bank

Creative Holiday Table 1

Getting yourself ready for the holidays, while exciting, can be just as overwhelming. With shopping lists to complete, grocery carts to fill, and holiday decor to be bought, the price tag that comes with the Holidays is not always an easy one for our bank account to take.

Anna Gosselin, owner and lead designer from All That Glitters Inc., shares with us some great ideas that will not only make our holiday table look like a page out of a catalogue, but one our pockets and our watches will thank us for.

Creating Your Canvas

To create a beautiful tablescape you first need to start with a great blank canvas, your tablecloth. Tablecloths don’t have to be silk or satin to make your table look like it was set by a designer, here Anna used Special Event Rentals Signature Ivory Linen and for an extra touch to start, her chair’s were wrapped with Sage Organza Chair Ties pinned with nothing but simple holiday ornaments that have been attached to hair clips with a hot glue gun.

A bit of the outdoors with homemade Chargers

With our table ready for place settings, Anna sets down her handmade Chargers.  These gorgeous Chargers are made from taking varied branches cut with a mitre, or chop saw, for various sizes of wood discs. Drilling holes with a drill press (or hand drill) connect each disc with yarn (or string, ribbon, leather, etc) to create your desired shape of Charger. These chargers can be used for any holiday!

No need to worry about Dishes

Finish by placing your dinnerware on top of the Charger, wrapping your napkins around your dinner plate. To help with the holiday mess Anna has used Special Event Rentals Whittier Square dinner plates and Square Bowl, Como Cutlery, and Regale Wine Glasses, and Solid Nova Napkins in Sage. Spending so much time cooking in the kitchen, why waste more time that could be better spent with your family and friends? Renting dinnerware, linens, and napkins means no laundry, no clean up, and best of all…no dishes!

A fancy touch for Guests: Place Cards, Menus, and Favors

To add a fancy touch Anna has created menu cards, favors and name cards. Simple and easy to make all you need is cardstock, a computer and printer, double sided tape, ribbon, a hot glue gun and a few embellishments of our choosing. Anna’s menu cards have a mini Christmas ornament glued to the bottom, while her favors have a foot print of a member of her family.

Last but not least, an expensive looking Centerpiece with a Dollar store Budget

Last but not least, every table needs a gorgeous centerpiece. And what’s better than having that gorgeous centerpiece cost only a few dollars to make? Anna’s centerpiece seen here was put together with nothing but a Styrofoam ball, ornaments, ribbon, cinnamon sticks, a few branches, fake moss and a vase, all available from any dollar store.

Wrap your vase in the ribbon of your choosing using your hot glue gun to hold in place, when cooled add your cinnamon sticks to the outside of the vase as well. To create the middle, take your Styrofoam ball and hot glue the ornaments you have selected. To finish add your fake moss to the inside of the vase, place in a few branches finished off with your Styrofoam ball. And there you have it, a designer table without a designer price tag!

Looking for something extra?

With your table set, and some extra time on your hands, why not add a ‘Remember When’ Board? Have your guests select a piece of paper out of your holiday box, write a note to you, and pin it to the board. Remember when we met? Remember last Christmas? Remember When…? An alternative to a guest book this keepsake is a wonderful memento to past and present holiday memories.

Why wait…

When you live somewhere that gets winter eight months of the year, why wait for that small window of opportunity to have a wedding? Celebrate the holiday season in more ways than one with a gorgeous winter wedding.

Silvers, whites and blues are classic when it comes to the snowy season. Dress your reception tables in silver linens, add some tea lights, and silver Manzanita branches with fake snow in Milano urns to bring a touch of the outdoors inside for a festive touch. Or why not line your aisle with gorgeous birch trees covered in glowing white lights?

“I love monochromatic themes and design. It’s such an easy and simplistic way to achieve a look that is very visually stunning without blowing the budget. Whether you are doing a corporate gala dinner, Christmas party or Wedding, using a gold-on-gold theme is a lovely way to achieve elegance and festivity with a touch of sparkle! I also love recommending the use of long rectangular tables for sit down dinner events and weddings, as this is a great and easy way to achieve high impact design in your venue space as well as makes dinner more intimate and social for your guests.”
