Silk plants are a great alternative to fresh florals and plants. They have the ability to spruce up a room for any type of event with ease!
If you have a large venue space like the Blatchford Hanger at Fort Edmonton Park you may have more room than you know what to do with. Placing peach trees around the room immediately fills an open space and adds additional décor to your event. Not only can silk plants be used to create a dramatic effect during your reception, you can also use calla lily or rose stands down your aisle or on either side of your archway as a great frame for your ceremony.
Boxwood hedges are extremely versatile as they come in a variety of different shapes and sizes to fit all your needs. Alberta tends to have unpredictable weather, and the majority of events are held indoors or in tents to insure that nobody is caught outside in awful weather. With the help of boxwoods and other silk plants, it’s easy to create an outdoor effect indoors!
Hosting a tropical themed event? Exotic plants such as palm, musa, banana or mango trees are great accents to transform an ordinary room into a tropical getaway. Smaller tabletop arrangements will also help transform a plain room into an amazing event.
Silk plants are increasing in popularity because their quality has greatly improved in recent years. Customers appreciate just how user-friendly they are to transport and relocate from ceremony to reception without worrying about water levels or damage to the plants. Keep an eye on our promotion page to catch the 10% discount that will soon be applied to all silk plants!

Appy Couple is a new free app, and the latest trend in keeping your guests up to date on your nuptials! This awesome new app is compatible with any iPhone, iPad, Android or the web.
Appy Couple allows you to create and customize your very own wedding app that you can share with your guests. With this app you are able to include background information on your relationship such as how you and your other half met and details about the proposal.
Other great features on this app include information about the big day, bridal parties and bachelor parties. You can also include information on the key people such as the maid of honor and best man with details on how to get in contact with them if the need arises. Share your registry, playlist from iTunes and take polls with this app!
Use this app throughout your engagement and honeymoon or use it even after your honeymoon to show photos or appreciation to guests that were a part of your big day!
Brides generally spend a large amount of time searching for their wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. Grooms and groomsmen on the other hand typically already have a fitted tux in the closet or head to their favourite tailor to purchase a new black or, the increasingly popular, grey suit. More and more grooms today are sporting personalized boutonnières, décor coordinating ties or bow ties and funky socks to add personality to the typical plain suit!
Cheeky photos of the groom and his groomsmen modeling showpiece socks are becoming increasingly popular with bridal parties and we love it!
Coordinate your socks with your brides wedding shoes or with the event décor for a special touch. Another great way to incorporate fun socks into your wedding is by gifting your groomsmen with personalized socks, with out without embroidered detail such as the wedding date and their wedding title!
There are so many great socks to choose from like argyle, striped, polka-dots, Nintendo themed and bright neon coloured that you will be sure to find the perfect pair for you and your groomsmen. One of our favourite brands is Happy Socks. As the name suggests, these playful patterns have a way of boosting your mood just by putting them on! With so many colours and patterns to choose from for your big day, we’re sure you’ll find just the right fit.

Cake tables generally receive a lot of attention and not just because they are a tasty treat. The cake typically gets it’s own feature table near the head table and is the second commanding table. With all eyes drifting to the cake table at one time or another during the reception, it is important to find a topper that you love.
Monogram toppers are great for cupcakes because you don’t need a large surface to place them on. This type of cake topper is great for the couples that love minimalism and a modern look. Monogram toppers are found in various sizes with diamond accents or plain silver to fit your individual style.
Themed cake toppers come in so many variations that you are sure to find one that fits both of your personalities. Whether you are a workaholic, shopaholic, sport fanatic or an animal lover you will be sure to find the perfect wedding figurines. Another great idea is to pick a unique cake topper that features your future plans together like traveling around the world.
Decorative cake toppers are perfect for the couple that is concerned with incorporating their wedding theme into the cake. A large snowflake is perfect if you are having a winter themed wedding or use a heart to symbolize your love for each other. There is also the ever so popular castle cake topper for those having a princess themed wedding reception.
If you can’t find a cake topper that suits your personality you can have one custom made! Nowadays it’s becoming easier to find companies or individual who can create a cartoon figurine of yourselves to make a truly unique statement!
Visit our retail store, Edmonton Wedding and Party Centre, or your local wedding supplier to find your ideal wedding cake topper!

Throwing rice on the newlywed couple as they leave the ceremony is a tradition seen at most weddings to see the couple off on their new life journey together. Tossing rice does have a few down falls however; one being that rice will most likely get stuck in your hair! Since most couples take wedding photos between the ceremony and the reception it’s not ideal to have to spend time picking rice out of your hair so more and more couples are looking for alternatives to rice tossing.
Our favorite new alternative has to be the bell wands! Wedding wands are a great addition to your ceremony as you can incorporate your décor theme into the wands.
You will need the following items:
2 – Silver or gold bells
1 – Large butterfly ornament
1 – 24” long dowel
1 – Eye screw
Step 1: Insert the eye screw one end of the dowel.
Step 2: Cut your ribbon in 54” lengths.
Step 3: Gather your ribbon together and string in through the eye screw until its pulled halfway through.
Step 4: Loop the green wire around the two bells and attach it to the top eye screw.
Step 5: Tie the butterfly wire to the eye screw above all the other items. If you butterfly does not come with a wire you can attach your own wire or glue the butterfly to the top of the eye screw.
