Carnival Wedding Inspiration

Our team at Special Event Rentals took inspiration from the Edmonton Capital EX with all its midway fun and bright colours to create a carnival inspired tablescape.

Using a retro black and white linen allowed for subtle accents of bright colours. Gold Chiavari chairs are decorated with a turquoise chair tie tied in a beautiful rose knot. Gold napkin rings are placed around purple majestic napkins, repeating extra touches of gold in the decor. Red charger plates with diamond accents create a bold colour contrast in addition to the fun coloured paper straws that were placed in each water glass.

The centerpiece is composed of an assortment of Trio Luxe vases with bright gumballs and jellybeans filling the centre cylinder. Make this centerpiece your own by placing your favourite candy in the vases as a treat for your guests later in the evening when the floating candles have burnt out.

D.I.Y. Ribbon Boutonniere

DIY Ribbon Boutonniere

You will need the following items:

  • Ribbon in two colours
  • Safety pin
  • Hot glue
  • Button or pearl

Step 1: Cut 4 sections in 7” length and 4 in 4” length.

Step 2: Glue the ribbon ends to the middle to make a figure eight loop

Step 3: Take the long ribbons and glue them together in the middle of each ribbon to create a circle.

Step 4: Apply the smaller ribbon to the centre of the larger circle to create a small circle on top of the large one.

Step 5: Glue your button to the centre of your ribbon circle.

Step 6: Glue a small piece of felt to the back with the safety pin underneath.

Summer Showroom Table: A Modern Elegance

Looking to add a touch of modern elegance to your wedding or next event? Our team at Event Planning Headquarters combined our elegant crystal chateau chairs and hanging glass bulbs with our modern blue mosaic overlay to achieve a modern yet elegant appearance.

Multiple hues of blue are incorporated into this tablescape with the assistance of a blue mosaic overlay draped over a turquoise majestic linen, then topped with custom favour boxes. The favour boxes were custom designed to reflect the multiple hues of the overlay. The colour Purple is integrated into the décor with flower heads placed in clear glass bulbs floating above the table and purple floating candles for contrast.

A Peaceful Lavender Tablescape

By combining white and lavender with soft hints of silver in the place settings of this table our team at Event Planning Headquarters created a tranquil atmosphere. Creating a table that would be great for any baby shower or for a bride who wants to achieve a soft and fresh quality to her reception.

White ostrich feathers rest in a white eiffel tower vase, which sits upon a round mirror that creates the perfect backdrop to reflect the flickering of the candlelight. A white capri overlay adds a romantic feel with its soft white swirl pattern and white satin ribbon trim.  This table is set against a white voile backdrop with beaded curtains that reflect the natural light for a beautiful display.

Victorian Elegance

Love to be daring and want to make a statement at your upcoming wedding? Our team at Event Planning Headquarters took one of our most desired linens, the rosette tablecloth in black, and created a bold setting fit for any statement bride.

The black rosette tablecloth is full of texture and emanates a Victorian elegance. A mixture of mirrors, vases, candleholders and wired display items create this dramatic centrepiece. Cream Hydrangea frames adorn this aubergine satin backdrop to create a subtle contrast against the rich dark tones of the tablescape.

A Modern Terrarium

Terrariums are a hot new trend for centerpieces this year and we are loving it! Our team at Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, embraced this new trend and created a modern terrarium tablescape in our showroom.

Black chiavari chairs add a sharp crisp feel against the neutral tones of the ironwood nova linen and silver pintuck runner, on the table. Additional colour is introduced into this table setting with the rose gold mercury votive holders and the rich green of the succulents.

D.I.Y. Terrarium

A Modern Terrarium

You will need the following items:

  • Small rocks or pebbles
  • Moss
  • Succulents
  • Clear glass vases

Step 1: Add a generous layer of small rocks at the bottom of your glass vase. Create a thin layer if your vase is small and a larger layer if you have a larger vase.

Step 2: Place a thin layer of moss on top of the rocks.

Step 3: Arrange the succulents on top of the moss until you are happy with its appearance.

Step 4: Set your now completed terrarium centrepiece on your table and enjoy!

1st Annual Taste Festival Cook-Off

This year the Taste of Edmonton Festival will be introducing a new event, the ATCO Gas Cook-Off competitions. The competition will be a two day event at the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen Theater. Teams will be composed of Chefs and food bloggers and they will need to combine their skills, knowledge and taste buds to compete in the 1st annual Taste Festival Cook-Off. A panel of industry professionals will judge all the dishes and determine the winner of the 1st Taste Festival Cook-Off.

Sunday, July 22- 11:30am to 1:30pm: The ATCO Gas Food Truck Entrée Cook-Off provides food bloggers the chance to step out from behind their keyboard and get into the action. They will create a one-of-a-kind entrée using unique Albertan products provided by Safeway.

Monday, July 23- 11:30am to 1:30pm: “Cooking with the Stars” BBQ Cook-Off sponsored by ATCO Gas will pair three Edmonton-based Chefs with three food bloggers to compete in a heated BBQ battle. The top team will be awarded with ATCO Cook-Off trophies.
