A Glamorous Delight

There is always a saying that resonates deep within a person.  It becomes their mantra.  For me that saying is “When in doubt just add sparkle!”  Today I want to share with you some great products that are perfect to add some sparkle to your next event.

Our brand new crystal globes are a wonderful option for a simple glam centerpiece.  Group them with princess cut votives and maximize the candle light as it bounces off each crystal.  If you’re opting for a floral centerpiece you can add finial pendants or a crystal ring to a simple vase for an instantly elevated look.  If those don’t satisfy your crystal cravings then go bigger!  Our new crystal lampshades are a high impact option to top a tall pilsner or cylinder vase.  For the ultimate crystal indulgence look no further than our glam candelabras available in both 23” and 33” heights.

A Glamorous Delight

Take your glam decor beyond the centerpieces.  Backdrops with beaded curtains create a dramatic focal point to highlight the guests of honor.  And who doesn’t love a sale on diamonds? Our diamond cuffs are the perfect accessory to compliment satin chair wraps and they are currently on promotion for just $2.00!

Guest books, pens, garters, champagne flutes and more!  Our retail boutique has an array of products sure to put a sparkly finishing touch on your big day! Visit us in store to view our selection or check out the WeddingStar collections by clicking here. Don’t forget to use our promotion code Weddings2013 when placing an order online at WeddingStar to receive a discount when you check out!

Dreamy Ceremonies

With the promise of spring around the corner and faint memories of what open green spaces look like, I’ve been falling head over heels for the clean and classic look of a white ceremony. I love the diversity and opportunity that a white chair provides in a room. Leave them stark white for a modern appearance or add a fun bright accent to the chairs to reflect your personality. Below are some of my favourite white ceremony images.

Country Stylized Wedding Shoot

Last week JoyFoley Weddings & Styling was featured on Wedding Obsession for this fresh styled country wedding shoot. I love the pop of red incorporated into the design. From the model’s bold red lips and cowboy boots to the hint of red peppered throughout the floral arrangements and the crisp red apples at each place setting. Special Event Rentals is thrilled to have been apart of this striking country shoot.

A Winter Farewell

Spring is here! Or so they say. What better way to say farewell to Old Man Winter than with a gorgeous winter wedding? For their early February wedding at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald the couple chose a classic winter palette of navy and silver. Touches of sparkle were added with the silver braided table runners and the hand made napkin rings. Alternating fresh floral centerpieces in tall Bella vases commanded attention as guests entered the ballroom. The bride added personal touches at every corner; in the foyer framed quotes about love, as interpreted by the Bride’s kindergarten class were displayed on the cocktail tables.  And in the ballroom, table numbers like 99 which represented “The Approximate Number Of Bottles Of Wine Consumed At The Engagement Party”, and 10 which was in reference to the grade the couple was in when they met.  With sophisticated decor and an ample supply of personalization this couples wedding has us feeling all warm inside.

What’s Your Wedding Style? Modern Venue & Decor

Bold Minimalist Bride

Bold Minimalist Wedding Decor Inspiration

A bold minimalist bride seeks a venue where the architecture of the building does more for her décor plan than any supporting elements she brings into the space. Ever a proponent of clean lines, the Art Gallery of Alberta, Winspear Centre, and Holes Enjoy Centre top her list for wedding venues. Accenting the glass and steel framework of these locations, she uses crystal clear chiavari chairs to keep the décor clean while still visually stunning. The clarity of the chairs ensure her tables dressed in black and white formal stripe linen receive the full attention they deserve. Clear plexi pillars line her ceremony aisle and also act as display cases for her shallow table centerpieces running down the middle of long feast tables.

Urban Bride

Urban Wedding Inspiration

The urban bride seeks a unique and intimate space, offering unexpected interior construction and location. She chooses a downtown rooftop for her ceremony and uses the city skyline as a dramatic backdrop. For the reception, she opts for a venue with exposed beams, brick and pipes or a completely blank slate to build on with intentional lighting and projections, and – of course – room to dance. Latitude 53, the Yellowhead Brewery or TransAlta Arts Barns are her top choices. She brings in LED bars and furniture, gelato tables and scooper stools, and a strong sound system to ensure the party carries well into the wee hours of the morn.

What’s Your Wedding Style? Eclectic Venue & Decor

Vibrant Eclectic

Vibrant Eclectic Inspiration

A rented tent provides the Vibrant Eclectic bride a blank canvas, keeping the foundational items neutral allowing the different prints and colours to shine.  The focal points are the centerpieces with an assortment of flowers and treasures. The bar will be stocked with a collection of coloured and etched stemware adding to the eclectic flair.

Earthy Eclectic

Earthy Eclectic Inspiration

A love of nature and all its glory is the reason for a tented wedding. Keeping things natural with Tuscan wood chairs, amber glass, white cotton linen and wood accent tables. Bringing some romance with white floral and airy glass fixtures. The rustic family style tables and sophistic drape makes this a perfect eclectic affair.

What’s Your Wedding Style? Glamorous Venue & Decor

Crystal Glam

Crystal Glam

When it comes to decor the Crystal Glam Bride is thinking one thing; sparkle.  But don’t mistake this bride for the pageant or gypsy type; she’s tasteful in her use of sparkle. She chooses sequin linens and dangles crystals from her oversized floral centerpieces. A great venue for this bride is the Delta Edmonton South. The Grande Ballroom boasts large chandeliers and an equally impressive square footage making it a great choice for a large guest list. Not to be out done; The Top Of The Inn attracts brides with it’s 12’ high window walls and a one of a kind starlit ceiling. This bride will keep the palette fairly neutral to balance all the bling. Her venue will get a romantic boost when this bride adds ambient candle light through out the space.

With it’s 24’ high ceilings, opulent chandeliers, and a stage flanked in drapes; the theatrical interior of the Oasis Conference Centre make this venue a perfect choice for the Vintage Glam Bride. The exterior of this venue has an Art Deco feel which this bride is sure to optimize for photos. Ostrich feathers mixed with fresh flowers and tall candelabras are natural centerpiece choices for this bride. Her place settings are a combination of crystal stemware and metallic patterned china. Add in some mercury glass candle holders; and tablecloths in deep, rich tones with European inspired prints to complete this Twenties era look.

What’s Your Wedding Style? Vintage Venue & Decor

Classic Vintage

Classic Vintage Decor

The classic vintage bride will be looking for natural light, detailed windows, and Windsor valences with gold accents to compliment her look.

Hotel Macdonald is the quintessential venue for this vintage bride. With deep rooted history and original Waterford china pattered ceilings. However, if you are looking for local charm than Fort Edmonton Park is a place where time has stopped and you can experience your wedding day as if it was 1885. If you are looking for southern charm than MaGrath Mansion is the perfect ceremony site or convocation hall for its exposed brick detail.

Details such as old jars, lace, pearls, and stationary complete this look.

Rustic Vintage

Rustic Decor

The rustic vintage bride will be looking for country charm and wood details in her venue to compliment her decor.

Old timers cabin is perfect, with their large brick fireplace and light fixtures while venues like Country Lodge and Blue Meadows Halls offer gorgeous outdoor space complete with wheat fields and horses.

Decor items such as mason jars and wood chiavaris tied with burlap will complete this wedding style.
