A Modern Terrarium

Terrariums are a hot new trend for centerpieces this year and we are loving it! Our team at Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, embraced this new trend and created a modern terrarium tablescape in our showroom.

Black chiavari chairs add a sharp crisp feel against the neutral tones of the ironwood nova linen and silver pintuck runner, on the table. Additional colour is introduced into this table setting with the rose gold mercury votive holders and the rich green of the succulents.

DIY Wheat Grass

This week we hosted an ISES event at our Edmonton location with catering from Bridges Catering. For the event Bridges Catering created an adorable dessert pop display. We loved the display concept so much that we wanted share with everyone how to make it themselves!

Grow your own wheat grass to display place setting cards, tasty treats such as cake pop or use them as your centrepiece!

Summer Showroom – A Modern Garden

Our team at Event Planning Headquarters created a whimsical modern garden tablescape. The Mad Hatter from the classic fairytale Alice in Wonderland provided this garden inspired table setting.

The black and white formal stripe linen adds a modern and compelling twist against the bold colours of summer. A lush green hedge, created using our boxwood hedges, adds grandeur and the feeling that you are celebrating at a high estate.

Assortments of flower stems are nestled in various bud vases, while votives provide height variation and a truly unique centerpiece. New gold chateau chairs are the perfect statement chair alongside tiffany blue charger plates and yellow napkins accents.

New Trend: Silk Plants

Silk plants are a great alternative to fresh florals and plants. They have the ability to spruce up a room for any type of event with ease!

If you have a large venue space like the Blatchford Hanger at Fort Edmonton Park you may have more room than you know what to do with. Placing peach trees around the room immediately fills an open space and adds additional décor to your event. Not only can silk plants be used to create a dramatic effect during your reception, you can also use calla lily or rose stands down your aisle or on either side of your archway as a great frame for your ceremony.

Boxwood hedges are extremely versatile as they come in a variety of different shapes and sizes to fit all your needs. Alberta tends to have unpredictable weather, and the majority of events are held indoors or in tents to insure that nobody is caught outside in awful weather. With the help of boxwoods and other silk plants, it’s easy to create an outdoor effect indoors!

Hosting a tropical themed event? Exotic plants such as palm, musa, banana or mango trees are great accents to transform an ordinary room into a tropical getaway.  Smaller tabletop arrangements will also help transform a plain room into an amazing event.

Silk plants are increasing in popularity because their quality has greatly improved in recent years. Customers appreciate just how user-friendly they are to transport and relocate from ceremony to reception without worrying about water levels or damage to the plants. Keep an eye on our promotion page to catch the 10% discount that will soon be applied to all silk plants!

Spring Showroom – Garden Tent

With spring and summer closely approaching we are excited to once again see the richness of green grass, the sun blazing on a fine afternoon and the ability to take a stroll outside without having to put on layer upon layer of clothing before taking a step into the outdoors. Our team at Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, has created a marvelous tent display for a brilliant spring or summer wedding that we would all love to attend.

Create a cute and chic outdoor event with the help of a bold Kelly Green linen with a contrasting Indigo Lamour Satin and Mimosa Nova runner for your guest tables. Doing the opposite on the headtable, changing the base colour of the head table to indigo lamour satin, creates a new look and helps in creating contrast to insure the table stand out amongst the others. Make a statement with your centrepiece by using a 12″ White Fluffy Ball on top of a Cylinder Vase or use fresh wild flowers to fill the vase for a garden experience.  These colours can be used indoors to brighten up a room for a spring festivity or use them outdoors to enhance the natural outdoor beauty.

Ribbon is incorporated into the décor for a whimsical effect which allows for an added touch of the colour palette. Using this palette to add to the different pieces such as the centerpiece, backdrop and table number stand allow for plenty of colour without being overwhelming to look at.
