Freshening Up – Lavender Elegance

In February we shared our Spring Showroom tablescapes and one of the tables featured was the lovely lavender table setting with a gorgeous beaded backdrop. Our team at Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, demonstrates just how easy it is to dramatically change a table with a few simple adjustments.

Lavender is a popular colour this year so our team decided to leave the lavender nova linen in addition to the dramatic eye catching white beaded backdrop.

Switching out the clear illusion folding chairs for silver chiavari’s brings an air of elegance into the table. A silver sequin table runner heightens the glam factor and provides texture in addition to extra sparkle! Additional crystals were brought in with the help of a fresh centerpiece, a 33” glam candelabra. The change in centerpiece enhances the glamour and adds flare with its height and the white rose ball. A tall centerpiece is a great way to add drama. As long as the base of the centerpiece is narrow, as it is with a candelabra, your guests still have a clear view of the other guests and the venue.

Reconsider Garden Lace Part 1

It seems all things eventually come full circle in the fashion and event world, and Garden Lace Linen is one item that is reclaiming its place in spotlight. Peruse any fashion or design magazine and you will be sure to find bright floral patterns and lace!

Jenelle Jamani from Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, took inspiration from our garden lace linen and created two beautiful tablescapes. The first table Jenelle created is a charming country inspired table with neutral hues.

Wrapping the garden lace napkin around the Weathered Charger and Classic White Dinnerware adds a soft pop of colour against the neutral setting. Flower embellished cutouts adorn the burlap gift favours and table number to add additional colour to the table without making it overwhelming.

An assortment of jugs and a watering can embroider the centre of the table, each filled with flowers. The centerpiece arrangement is centered between a layered Mimosa Runner and Burlap Tie for added country charm appeal.

Single flower stems are placed in white and clear Bud Vases to decorate the rustic window frame that is centered on the double layer backdrop. Limewash Chiavari chairs amplify the relaxed and carefree appeal to the country table.

With spring and summer closely approaching we are excited to once again see the richness of green grass, the sun blazing on a fine afternoon and the ability to take a stroll outside without having to put on layer upon layer of clothing before taking a step into the outdoors. Create a cute and chic outdoor event with the help of a bold Kelly Green linen with a contrasting Indigo Lamour Satin and Mimosa Nova runner for your guest tables. Doing the opposite on the headtable, changing the base colour of the head table to indigo lamour satin, creates a new look and helps in creating contrast to insure the table stand out amongst the others. Make a statement with your centrepiece by using a 12″ White Fluffy Ball on top of a Cylinder Vase or use fresh wild flowers to fill the vase for a garden experience.  These colours can be used indoors to brighten up a room for a spring festivity or use them outdoors to enhance the natural outdoor beauty.

Ribbon is incorporated into the décor for a whimsical effect which allows for an added touch of the colour palette. Using this palette to add to the different pieces such as the centerpiece, backdrop and table number stand allow for plenty of colour without being overwhelming to look at.

Spring Showroom – Beachy Keen

Beach tables generally consist of soft hues of blue, ivory and yellow but this tablescape created by Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals, took their inspiration from the ocean floor and created a bold and refined beach table.

When going for a beach theme event it’s important to incorporate the theme into your menu to ensure that your guests are able to bask in a true seaside event whether it’s held within the city or on a beach. Get creative, make or purchase your place cards in the shape of underwater life to attach to your wine glasses for an added seaside touch, or collect pieces of coral to use as holders for your name cards.

Coral Lamour Satin is used as the prominent colour for this tablescape and is the perfect canvas for an assortment of natural tone seashells. Using natural tone seashells will allow you to incorporate those colours such as ivory and pewter elsewhere on your tablescape; on this table pewter was used as a runner to tie all the colours together. A simple fabric backdrop allows the texture of the seashells and charger plates to be the focus points which stand out on the table while varied heights of the Luxe Trio Vase combined shells, and both floating and pillar candles, add for a dramatic display of light.

D.I.Y. Pebble Charger Plates

You will need the following items:

  • Mesh – can be purchased in any craft or hardware store
  • Pebbles – can be purchased at a craft store or collect them from the outdoors
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1: Cut the mesh into your desired shape, rectangle or square.  You will want them to around 13”X13” to ensure they fit properly with your dinnerware.

Step 2: Put hot glue on the back of a pebble and place onto the mesh. Start in one corner and working your way across to fill the mesh with pebbles.

Step 3: Continue placing pebbles onto the mesh until you have covered your mesh sheet.

Spring Showroom – Fresh Floral

Our next table in our showroom line up combines everything that’s rejuvenating and refreshing about spring. Soft colours, lots of florals, and warm sunlight are just a few key elements of this gorgeous tablescape created by Event Planning Headquarters, a division of Special Event Rentals.

With flowering trees in bloom, and a few Roman Pillars as the backdrop, Celery Elizabeth linen is used to reflect the colours of spring with muted greens, peaches and pinks. For a touch of sophistication, 13″ Glass Bubble Charger Plates are used as the base for the place settings and finished off with Tablecharm dinner plates to add vintage elegance with a contemporary modern twist.

What’s spring without more flowers? Keeping with all the themes blended in this tablescape, vintage Elizabethan, contemporary modern and the rejuvenation of the season, an Ivory Floral Ball and a Milano Urn were used to create the centrepiece. Finish it off with a few votives and soft candle lighting and you’ll have a gorgeous centrepiece that will make your guests feel cozy, warm, and counting the days till the snow melts away.

To tie everything together, Limewash Chiavari Chairs with new spiral chair pads were added to the setting. The limewash colouring compliments the many hues in the linen and backdrop, while the chair pads add an extra touch of modernism keeping the tablescape consistent with the latest 2012 trends.

Event Planning Headquarters, a subdivision of Special Event Rentals, has taken a modern spin on the classic pastel colour to incorporate one of this years “it” colours, lavender. The colour pallet consists of a pastel lavender nova with frosted whites and crystal to enhance the main colour.

Pastel colours are the most common untapped resource when planning a tablescape. Not just for Easter or Retro themed events, pastel colours are perfect for a fresh and bright atmosphere.  Combined with the right accents and centerpiece you can create a stunning look that is contemporary and modern.

This tablescape would be perfect for an outdoor reception where the sunlight can bounce off all the crystal accents. Guests are provided with a chocolate bar with a custom wrapper that allows you to bring in more of your primary colour, in this case pastel lavender.

2012 Wedding Trends – Photo Booths

Our fifth trend was seen in 2011 and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Trendy photo booths will be showcased at weddings again this year.
