Wedding Wednesday – Champagne Toast

This elegant gold wedding is a second wedding for a happy couple who originally shared their vows over in Singapore. A second wedding was planned in Edmonton so that the couple could share their declaration of love with everyone who was unable to make their destination wedding.

The couple put a lot of thought into every detail of their wedding. For example the wedding favours were tins of tea from Singapore; where the groom grew up. Each guest also received a beautiful peacock feather in honour. The peacock feather was selected because they are a common animal in Sri Lanka and are also beautiful creatures.

Planning an Elegant Wedding on a Budget

When you have been dreaming of your wedding day from a young age cost is usually the furthest thought when picturing your special day. But now that you have grown up and found that special person to spend the rest of your life with, cost is an unavoidable factor during the wedding planning process. You can still create the elegant wedding of your dreams by following a few simple steps.

First things first, you need to create a budget and stick to it. Once you and your partner have come up with a reasonable wedding budget it can be beneficial to create a list of all the important and not important aspects of your wedding. These aspects would include venue, food, flowers, décor rentals, attire, stationary and DJ to name a few. With this list you can give yourself a guideline for each aspect and if required add and subtract from your different items.

To save some extra costs get crafty and make your own wedding invitations, favours, place card holders and any of crafts you can think of. If you’re not the crafty type you can always save cost by utilizing everything your wedding venue provides. Most venues will provide you with basic linens, tables, chairs and dinnerware.

Rentals are also a great way to get everything you want for your big day without the large cost of purchasing everything. Table runners are easy way to add your wedding colour into the reception, which will also allow you to utilize the linen provided by your venue.

If florals aren’t a top priority on your wedding list keep your centrepiece small with floating candles or water pearls. If you prefer tall centerpieces a candleabra or large pilsner vase is a great choice.

When planning your wedding day don’t forget to breath and enjoy the planning process!

Getting Wedding Organized – Invitation Formalities and DIY Favours

Get your invitations personalized by your local stationary business or create your own with easy do-it-yourself invitation bundles found at places like Edmonton Wedding and Party Centre or your local craft store. If you decide to make your invitations at home, be sure to do some research on invitation guidelines.

Below is a list of a few invitation formalities.

  • Spell out all words and numbers. Do not use abbreviations.
  • Do not include registry or wishing well information anywhere on your invitation. If you are registered or would prefer donations spread the word through word of mouth and/or include the information on your wedding blog. Even though it might be easy to add this information on your invitation, some guests may find it greedy and take offence.
  • Inform your guests if a full meal will be scheduled or not.
  • Indicate on your invitations if it’s a “black tie” on the lower right corner of the invitation to help your guests pick an outfit.
  • All delivery addresses should be hand written to each guest.
  • If you would like to include children at your reception, include the children’s name on the inner envelope. If children are not permitted do not include their names on the invitation; however, if you think some guests won’t understand the subtle hint, give those few a quick call to ensure they understand.

Favours should reflect the wedding theme or personality of the newlywed couple. An always-dependable favour is to insert some tasty treats inside little tie bags or boxes. Rally a helpful team of friends and/or family about a month before your wedding to help assemble your wedding favour boxes. You can also personalize your favours by adding tags with your monogrammed initials, wedding date, or a sweet note of appreciation.
