We are excited to featured Meat Street Pies as our Caterer of the Month for September! Meat Street Pies owners Jonathan and Thea have been in the baking business for nearly 40 years (even though they’re only about 40ish!) with Jonathan always wanting to be producing meat pies. According to Jonathan, “A good meat pie is few and far between, so starting the Food Truck and providing a product we would like to eat ourselves was the goal.”
Thea insisted that the truck be so attractive and curious that people would be drawn to it, knowing that Jonathan’s insistence for a superior meat pie and pasty would have them coming back.
They started in June and each location has provided another learning experience, such as which products are most popular, which locations work best, a 3-day festival experience, and even learning how to TWEET, OMG! “It’s been a fun journey and one that will end soon with the cooler weather, but we’ll be raring to go next season” Thea says!
The Meat Street Pie line up of products include: Cornish Pasties, Jamaican Patties, Chicken Pot Pie, Tourtiere, and a gluten-free Spinach and Feta Quiche, ranging from $6 – $8. Says Thea, “what we’re finding is that we’re selling nostalgia!”
“The best part of the whole adventure has been the customer response. We are adding to our expanding circle of fans and friends, and that makes it all worthwhile. We love Edmonton and we love all Food Trucks,” say the owners.
