Blush & Marsala Mountain Wedding

Our very own Ivona, sales manager extraordinaire at our Banff location, tied the knot with her long time beau Sylvain in the beautiful Rocky Mountains on a truly magical day in September. Everything was flawlessly coordinated by Shannon of Mountainscape Weddings who incorporated the most beautiful shades of blush, ivory, marsala, and navy paired with gold accents. Photographed by One Edition Photography, this celebration of love featured our beautiful Gold Beaded Glass Charger Plates, Rustic Vineyard Chairs and lush florals with cascading greenery.

What was the colour scheme you chose for your Big Day?

Our colours were blush/dusty pink, ivory, marsala with pops of Navy, gold accents and greenery.

What inspired your choice of colour?

The beautiful mountain scenery of the area we call home inspired our theme.  We really wanted it to be romantic and elegant, with some rustic elements to coincide with the fall season & mountain area. We met in Banff and live in Canmore, but our families live out East in Quebec & Ontario where we are both originally from.  We really wanted to give them the experience of an elegant mountain styled wedding if they were travelling all the way here for it!  I knew that I wanted to have burgundy as a colour in the wedding as it is so beautiful for a fall, mountain wedding.  Having the girls in Burgundy/Marsala was my first instinct, but then I choose my wedding dress, which was soft French Beige with lots of tulle, and the burgundy looked a bit too dark next to it.  So in the end, I choose blush for the girls to go better with my dress and pops of burgundy throughout the stationary and flowers.  It turned out to be beautiful and romantic, better than I could have imagined.  Being the Sales Manager at Special Event Rentals in Banff meant that I had access to beautiful décor and wedding colours that the possibilities of colours and décor were at my fingertips and endless everyday!  But I really tried to keep it simple, trying to focus on the time of year and the beautiful mountain area as inspiration.

Approximate number of wedding guests:  60

What were your 3 favorite wedding details?

  • I was over the moon with how beautiful all the flowers looked! I really wanted them to have lots of greenery, with ivory, pinks, and marsala colours throughout them with lots of texture.  I wanted them to be rustic and kind of loose and romantic.  The amazing team at Mountainscape Weddings designed all our flowers, but the florist even added in some Dusty Millers into them, that were hand picked straight out of her garden for a personal touch. It was such a perfect addition & pleasant surprise for me morning of the wedding!   From the beautiful greenery runner on the head table with pops of coloured floral’s, to my cascading bouquet, it came together so beautifully.
  • Sylvain and I love to mountain bike together!  So instead of doing traditional table numbers, we did trail names of trails that we love to bike on in the area.  So guests had to find their “trail” instead of table.  We had some fun with it!  And we incorporated a tandem bike logo, onto our “Happy Trails” Wedding favour of muslin bag with chocolates at each guest’s place setting.  We thought it was a cute touch to make it more personal to us as a couple and who we are and what we love most about living in Canmore/Banff.
  • It meant the world to us to have so many loved ones and colleagues chip in with their expertise to help make our wedding perfect for us and even more special and meaningful. Our signing board was handmade by my long time friend Laura as we been best friends since high school.  Our other friend Andrea took on the high-pressure task of making our wedding cake. Our friend Beth designed all the stationary and a friend Robin even made the bracelet I wore that day.  We are very fortunate to have such amazing friends in our lives that not only offered to help but also insisted on it.
